The mission of the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is to serve and improve the Hillsboro community through positive activities, strengthening relationships, appreciating diversity, and forming more supportive relationships between youth and adults.
YAC members develop, organize, participate in and manage a number of community events, programs and service projects throughout the school year.
How to Join YAC
To be eligible, applicants must be entering into their 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade year and live in the Hillsboro School District limits. Applications are reviewed and scored based on several qualification categories, including community involvement and interest in civic engagement.
After reviewing applications, a portion of candidates may be asked to participate in an interview process. Twenty-five to 30 students serve on the Council each year.
