What is the Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP)?

Developing a Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) is essential to helping our City be more resilient to wildfires. CWPPs are collaborative, community-driven frameworks that outline local priorities for wildfire risk mitigation.

As urban growth continues and the threat of wildfires increases due to changing climate conditions, Hillsboro focuses on proactive, collaborative, and effective wildfire risk reduction strategies to protect its community and environment.

The Plan integrates an approach focusing on prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery strategies, particularly emphasizing the City’s green spaces and greenspace interface areas, where the urban-wildland interface poses significant wildfire risks.

Why are we engaging the community?

We're seeking input and feedback from our community about this plan, focusing on four key questions.

If possible, we encourage all community members to read the full draft plan.

  1. What do you know about wildfire risks in the community? (Sections 1 & 2)

  2. How much do you know about how you can protect your family and home from wildfire risks? (Section 3)

  3. Are you aware of community-led actions that you can participate in to reduce risk from wildfires? (Sections 3 & 4)

  4. Do the goals and action items of the CWPP address Hillsboro’s wildfire risks? (Sections 4)
