We are living in a changing climate. The City of Hillsboro is responding with new strategies to help the community adapt to the changes and lessen the impacts.
Over the past two years, the City has worked with community members, businesses, partner organizations, and other key stakeholders to draft action plans for reducing the worst impacts of climate change and improving community resilience.
Following their review of the plan in December 2025, the City Council will consider adopting the Climate Action Plan during the City Council meeting on Tuesday, February 3.

What does the Climate Action Plan do?
Hillsboro’s Climate Action Plan is a roadmap for a cleaner, healthier, and more resilient community. It outlines practical steps to reduce pollution, save energy and money, and prepare for climate impacts like extreme heat and wildfire smoke.
The plan focuses on everyday solutions, including:
- cleaner transportation,
- more efficient buildings
- renewable energy
- protecting natural spaces
Developed with community input and an equity-focused approach, the plan is designed to ensure everyone in Hillsboro benefits from a safer, greener future.
