Do you love Hillsboro and care about your community?

Are you interested in giving back to the community and building leadership skills?

You’re invited to join Hillsboro’s Civic Leadership Academy!

At the Academy, Hillsboro residents from all neighborhoods and backgrounds come together to research a topic of community importance, share their perspectives, and make recommendations to City Council. Last year’s Academy informed the Hillsboro 2035 Community Plan 5-year Update.

In 2024, the Academy will focus on how the City of Hillsboro can assist aging community members — who often experience feelings of isolation and loneliness — to feel more included and visible.

People of all personal and professional backgrounds, people of color, and people from historically underrepresented communities are encouraged to apply.

Civic Leadership Academy members brainstorm with post-its at a WorkshopAs a member, you will:

  • Develop leadership skills
  • Share your ideas
  • Build community connection

Members will participate in six Wednesday evening workshops from September 18 to October 23 and present their recommendations to City Council on Tuesday, November 5.

Visit our Civic Leadership Academy webpage for the full dates and details and to read about past projects & recommendations.
