Want a voice in local government? Join Hillsboro's Youth Advisory Council (YAC)!
The mission of the Hillsboro Youth Advisory Council is to educate, engage, and empower youth in the Hillsboro community by providing educational opportunities, fostering teamwork and problem solving, and creating meaningful connections to local government, preparing this generation of young leaders.
YAC members join subcommittees that develop, organize, participate in and manage a number of community events, programs, and service projects throughout the school year.
Applicants must be entering into their 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade year and live in the Hillsboro School District limits. You are not required to attend school in Hillsboro.
YAC members attend mandatory meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month from 5 to 7 pm.
Applications and letters of recommendation are due by Sunday, May 17, 2026 at midnight. Partial applications or applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
A portion of candidates will be asked to participate in an interview that will take place on Monday, May 25, Wednesday, May 27, or Thursday, May 28.
