Community input is essential to an effective government, and the City of Hillsboro is committed to providing meaningful public involvement opportunities to help inform the decision-making process.
The City's Downtown Urban Renewal Plan establishes projects, goals and objectives to help revitalize Downtown Hillsboro into a safe and economically prosperous community. The Plan addresses the physical improvements envisioned by the community, and provides direction for a healthy, stable, and sustainable Downtown.
The City is currently seeking applicants to serve on the Downtown Urban Renewal Advisory Committee (URAC)
As a URAC member, you will advise on Downtown Hillsboro's:
Public involvement program
Proposed urban renewal projects
Policies and programs in the Urban Renewal Area
Committee Responsibilities:
Participate in at least one meeting per year, and more frequently as related work items and topics require.
Provide summary recommendations on proposed implementation actions to the Hillsboro Economic Development Council (HEDC), the City’s urban renewal agency.
Craft a public involvement plan per project in consultation with staff.
Establish and maintain a stakeholder list to keep interested parties informed.
Establish public participation guidelines for project implementation.
The City encourages applicants with diverse backgrounds and interests to provide the broadest range of perspectives for ensuring successful implementation of the City’s Downtown Urban Renewal Plan.

Applicant Selection & Notification: March 18 through 20
Appointment Process:
Applications will be reviewed by City staff and the Mayor.
The Mayor, with the consent of the City Council, will appoint members to the Committee. Members may be reappointed at the discretion of the Mayor and the Council.
Advisory Committee
Committee Members: 22 Term Length: Three years Frequency: One meeting per year, and as needed as work items and topics require.
