Environmental Stewardship Committee 2024 Application
Members of the Environmental Stewardship Committee include representatives from community-based organizations, businesses, utilities, Youth Advisory Council, volunteer organizations, City Council, public at large members, and City of Hillsboro staff.
Current openings on the ESC include:
- A representative from a material recovery & renewal organization
- A representative from a natural resources conservation organization
- A representative from a local community-based organization
- A business representative
Member Terms and Eligibility
ESC members serve two-year terms that begin in the fall. Terms may be renewed by mutual agreement. Members are recruited by City staff and approved by the Mayor and City Council.
Committee members must live, work, volunteer, or attend school in Hillsboro and have an interest in Environmental Sustainability.
Committee Role
- Tracking and reporting on adopted indicator status
- Modifying, adding, or otherwise updating performance indicators as needed
- Reviewing and sharing information on progress from community partners
- Evaluating and recommending minor modifications to environmental stewardship actions
Committee Responsibilities
- Participating in quarterly meetings and related events
- Advising City Council and partners on best practices, pilot projects, or policies
- Producing an annual progress report
- Conducting community engagement and action plan updates when needed
Meeting Schedule
The ESC will meet four times per year in the fall, winter, and spring. Meetings are generally Thursdays from 4 to 5:30 pm or 4 to 6 pm.
